Results
- Ms. Lisa Badenhorst was funded to undertake research on collaboration in Yukon modern treaty implementation;
- The team co-leads focused their work on the collaborative fiscal policy process, following its evolution over time and drawing lessons for future collaborative policy development and intergovernmental relations more broadly. The team lead (academic) attended collaborative fiscal process sessions and conducted interviews with most participants (SGIG and federal representatives). A final report is in the works to present the results of the analysis; A panel including Martin Papillon discussed some of the key lessons from the collaborative process at the 2023 LCAC conference.

- A panel involving researchers and practitioners is organized for the 2025 LCAC conference to highlight key conclusions and establish future work on intergovernmental relations in the context of modern treaties;
- A paper for peer review publication, Lessons from the federal collaborative fiscal policy process with self-governing indigenous nations., by Dr. Martin Papillon, is under review for publication in an academic journal;
- A journal article was prepared comparing treaty implementation in the context of multilevel governance in Nuavut and Nunatsiavut (Papillon, M. et T. - A chapter in an edited volume discussed the experience of treaty implementation in the context of Canadian federalism (Papillon M, 2020, The Two Faces of Treaty Federalism, in Bickerton J, Gagnon A-G, Canadian Politics, 7th ed. University of Toronto Press)
- A workshop with federal civil servants on collaborative policy development drawing on the collaborative fiscal policy process with self-governing indigenous nations was organized in June 2023;
- The Intergovernmental theme co-leads met in January 2024 to discuss the potential for a cross-cutting workshop between intergovernmental, socio-economic, and financial themes at a grant wrap up conference sometime in 2024.
