Daniel Sherwin, PhD
Post-Doctoral Fellow, Finance Theme

Daniel Sherwin is a settler scholar and postdoctoral fellow with the Modern Treaty Implementation Project. His current research focuses on "Canada's Collaborative Self-Government Fiscal Policy," situating that policy within the larger context of Indigenous struggles for self-determination. He is also conducting research on Canada's policies relating to Indigenous leadership selection in both a modern treaty and Indian Act context, with particular attention to how Canada suppresses Indigenous democratic traditions. Daniel's previous scholarship has focused on historical treaties, Indigenous movements of treaty renewal, and Indigenous resurgence. Daniel is preparing a book manuscript titled The Political Development of the Treaty System in Canada that addresses these themes.
