Crystal Gail Fraser is Gwichyà Gwich'in, originally from Inuvik and Dachan Choo Gę̀hnjik, Northwest Territories. She is finishing a PhD in Canadian History at the University of Alberta on the history of residential and day schooling in the Northwest Territories from 1959 to 1996. Crystal has been honoured with a number of awards, including a SSHRC doctoral fellowship and visiting doctoral appointments at the University of Otago in New Zealand and the University of Aberdeen in Scotland. Recently, Crystal co-authored a piece on reconciliation, entitled "150 Acts of Reconciliation for the Final 150 Days of Canada's 150," which has been viewed more than 60,000 times.
